...looking east toward Lake Michigan with the Sheffield Ave. rooftop seats..."Eamus Catuli" is a Latin approximation for "Let's Go Cubs"; the "AC" is for "Anno Catuli", or "The Year of the Cubs", with a string of numbers representing how many years since it truly WAS the year of the Cubs. By the numbers then current on the sign can be deduced the photo was made in 2005. The last NL pennant was 1945 (60 years ago) and the last WS Championship was 1908 (97 years ago). So, yes, the Cubs have indeed won the Series since the advent of manned flight--twice in fact--although in 1908 they were beneficiaries of the "Merkle Boner" to win the pennant. Alas, what Fred Merkle giveth, Steve Bartman taketh away. Wrigley still awaits its first WS Championship. However, the Cubs still have a slight edge on the Cardinals in wins versus the other, thanks to the fact that the Cubs' glory years were congruent with the Cardinals' gory years. The Cards had maybe five winning seasons in their first thirty in the NL. Harry Caray, with ties to both teams, is depicted at left. "Hey Hey" is a tip of the cap to Jack Brickhouse, Harry's predecessor with the Cubs.
